The Course Situated in the north eastern suburbs of Brisbane, Virginia Golf Club offers 28 top class holes. The first 18 is the bread and butter for Virginia being a championship course presented at the highest standard. The third nine holes are mainly for social golf but and still of excellent quality.
The Variety If you have all day, there is not reason you can’t play all 28 holes of Virginia Golf Club. Offering that many holes, variety is perhaps a strong point at Virginia. With a balanced sprinkling of long par 5’s and short tight par 3’s things course offers a little bit of everything.
The Challenge Often, a courses variety often affects the challenge that a course will offer. This is true for Virginia Golf Club. Because every hole is different, a player is unable to get into a rhythm, and will therefore struggle with a lot of holes. The situation is amplified by the fact that most holes are difficult in their own right. First time players you be prepared for a trying round.
The Price The price for 18 holes was $26.00 for weekday rounds and a touch more of weekends if depending of the competition situation. For the quality of course the Virginia Golf Club, this is excellent value.
The Facilities The spacious Clubhouse incorporates a Lounge area, Function Room and Restaurant with three bars servicing these areas. Outside is “The Terrace” situated overlooking the 18th green; this area can also be utilized for functions. Ample parking is available in the Club car park. Buggies are plentiful and the Pro Shop is well stocked. The putting green is large and accurate.
The People No problems here. Everyone was friendly and approachable. Top marks.
The Extras This category is aimed at rewarding those courses that provide that one unforgettable hole. Virginia Golf Club has more than one. The14th par 3 is protected by everything including water, sand, scrub and a difficult green. Make sure you hit the green first go. The 10th offers a strategically placed lake that can affect the manner in which you play this dog legged hole. Don’t think about the water!
